Debuting at the 2023 Monsoon Music Festival, The Field of Heritage: City Life is a seven-track electronic album by Xinh Xô that explores themes of migration, memory, and urbanization in Vietnam.
Set against the backdrop of the remote Northwest, the album contrasts the natural beauty of the highlands with the harsh realities of city life during the reform era. As young people left their rural homes for smog-filled cities, they carried with them a deep nostalgia for their roots.
Through layered soundscapes, the project reflects the cultural and ecological dislocation faced by ethnic minorities—where concrete and noise have replaced forests and lullabies, and the longing for home endures amid the chaos of modern life.
